Seaside Stroll - Edwardian 14K Gold Violet Ceylon Sapphire & Natural Pearl Pendant & Chain.  This exquisite pendant is crafted from 14K gold, hallmarked and confirmed.  Featuring one natural tear drop shaped sapphire, 17 natural seed pearls, and one natural drop pearl, Victorian/Edwardian era styling, and quality craftsmanship. This beautiful pendant is made in the form of an open-worked cross, which is set with a genuine natural violet sapphire.  The pendant is adorned with white pearls, displaying  silvery white overtones. The cross also has a wonderful larger pearl drop, which is suspended perfectly for nice movement. The bale is also set with a single pearl, adding exquisite detail(a characteristic of fine antique jewelry) The pendant has been matched up to a lovely 14K gold fancy link chain, which has a secure spring ring clasp in perfect working order. This antique pendant is from the Victorian Edwardian era, which is dainty, however it still makes a statement when worn. These type of pendants are seen more often with amethysts, and garnets so this particular example, which is set with a sapphire is more rare. A true beauty!

History: The celestial blue colour of this gemstone symbolized heaven and attracted divine favor and wise judgment. Greeks wore sapphire for guidance when seeking answers from the oracle. Buddhists believed that it brought spiritual enlightenment, and Hindus used it during worship.

Sapphire is a gemstone associated with royalty. It is believed to attract abundance, blessings, and gifts. It has been used to protect against negative energies, as well as calm the mind, strengthen intuition, and invite spiritual clarity.Feb 9, 2022

Pearls were presented as gifts to Chinese royalty as early as 2300 BC, while in ancient Rome, pearl jewellery was considered the ultimate status symbol. So precious were the spherical gems that in the 1st century BC, Julius Caesar passed a law limiting the wearing of pearls only to the ruling classes.  According to legend, Cleopatra crushed a pearl into a glass of wine to prove to Marc Antony that she could give the most expensive dinner in history.

Contemporary appraisals do not reflect the value of antique rings. Value is based on rarity, gemstone stones, metal, condition, workmanship, and antiquity value.
