Shades Of Colour - Estate Sterling Silver Opal Marquise Cluster Ring. This gorgeous ring is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked 925 for sterling. Featuring an oval lab created opal, 12 round cut lab created opals, Victorian Revival style and quality silver-work. The expertly bezel set opal has a fantastic play of colour, flashes of green, blue and orange are displayed in these wonderful opals. The centre gem is surrounded but a halo of opals designed in a marquise shaped gallery. The shoulders have a split design and engravings, leading down to a substantial smooth and polished shank. This Victorian Revival ring looks stunning when worn, truly a perfect gift or addition to any jewelry collection.
History: Developed in France in the 1740s , legend has it that it was named for the Marquise de Pompadour, a mistress of the King Louis XV, because the outline resembles the shape of her mouth. The marquise diamond is also called a navette ( Old French for "little ship").
