Strands Of Time - Edwardian Sterling Silver Paste & Cultured Pearl Double Strand Necklace. This wonderful necklace is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked SIL on the back of the clasp Featuring 199 cultured Akoya pearls, 13 paste gemstones, Edwardian Styling, and the original box, which is embossed with a stamp that reads: THE GOLDSMITHS & SILVERSMITHS ASSN DIAMOND MERCHANTS 270 REGENT St OXFORD CIRCUS.  The necklace consists of a beautifully shaped clasp adorned by expertly claw set paste clear gems, featuring a secure slide and lock clasp, in perfect working order.  The necklace is designed with two strands of lustrous white pearls, which exhibits a beautiful pink/champagne overtone. The pearls are very slightly  blemished,  and display an incredible lustre.  They are threaded with silk and knotted in-between each and every pearl, which protects the pearls from wear.  Is there anything more elegant and feminine than a pearl necklace? This Edwardian era example is accompanied by its original box. A rare beauty indeed!

Note: Appraisal included with the necklace.  This contemporary Appraisal does not reflect the antiquity value.

According to legend, Cleopatra crushed a pearl into a glass of wine to prove to Marc Antony that she could give the most expensive dinner in history.

The origins of Paste jewellery date back to the mid-18thcentury, to a jeweller named Georges Frederic Stras, who worked as a jeweller to the king when he moved from Strasbourg to Paris in 1724. ... The special Paste glass was cut and polished by hand so that is shone and glittered.Apr. 17, 20
