Strands Of Time - Art Deco English Sterling Silver Paste & Cultured Japanese Akoya Pearl Triple Strand Necklace. This wonderful necklace is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked with a makers mark SCP, (Sterling Ciro Pearls), and England. Featuring 254 cultured Akoya pearls, 16 paste gemstones, Art Deco era Styling,  and quality craftsmanship. The necklace consists of a beautifully shaped bow clasp adorned by expertly claw set paste clear gems, featuring a secure slide and lock clasp, in perfect working order.  The necklace is designed with three strands of lustrous white pearls, which exhibits beautiful creamy/white overtones. They are threaded with silk and knotted in-between each and every pearl, which protects the pearls from wear.  Is there anything more elegant and feminine than a pearl necklace?

Comments: Beautiful triple strand of pearls. These have been restrung by Birks with silk thread, and the pearls have been professionally cleaned. Wonderful Art Deco example.

Note: Appraisal included with the necklace.  This contemporary Appraisal does not reflect the antiquity value.

History: Pearls were presented as gifts to Chinese royalty as early as 2300 BC, while in ancient Rome, pearl jewellery was considered the ultimate status symbol. ... According to legend, Cleopatra crushed a pearl into a glass of wine to prove to Marc Antony that she could give the most expensive dinner in history.

The origins of Paste jewellery date back to the mid-18thcentury, to a jeweller named Georges Frederic Stras, who worked as a jeweller to the king when he moved from Strasbourg to Paris in 1724. ... The special Paste glass was cut and polished by hand so that is shone and glittered.

The "SCP" mark on British jewelry signifies pieces made by Ciro company, specially "Sterling Ciro Pearls", a brand known for quality sterling silver and imitation pearl costume jewelry established in London in 1917. This hallmark indicates the use of sterling silver by Ciro, often found on their Art Deco era pieces featuring fine paste stones that mimicked platinum and diamonds.

Their Art Deco-era pieces were known for their craftsmanship and the use of high-quality paste stones.
