Tickled Pink - Vintage 9K Gold Natural Pink Sapphire & Diamond Dangly Earrings. These beautiful earrings are crafted from 9K yellow gold, hallmarked 375 (British hallmark for 9K gold). Featuring 2 natural oval cut faceted pink sapphires, two natural round cut diamonds, Vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. The pretty earrings exhibit a gold ball surmount, and are made for pierced ears. They feature a post and butterfly backs, which lock-in securely.  The dangle is designed as an open-worked tear-drop shape, enhanced by a sparkling diamond, and a beautiful pink sapphire dangle. The pink sapphires, display a gorgeous purplish/pink color, and are well cut, which allows them to sparkle beautifully.  The Vintage earrings, are feminine and petite, perfect for casual or formal wear. History: Origin. Pink sapphires have become more available since new deposits were found in Madagascar in the late 1990s. Until that time, pink sapphires were considered exceptionally rare since they were only found in a few locations around the world, the most popular locations being Sri Lanka, Myanmar and East Africa.

The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
