To Love & Protect - Victorian 9K Rose Gold Engraved 'Forget Me Knot' Enamelled Heart Locket.  This unique locket is crafted from 9K rose gold , tested and confirmed. This is a back & front locket, crafted from 9K and some metal parts for strength and durability (a characteristic of Victorian and Edwardian lockets).  Featuring exquisite detail, Victorian styling and quality gold-work.   The work on this locket is absolutely beautiful. The central front portion of the locket showcases a shield for engraving a monogram or initials. The centre of the shield exhibits a diagonal enamelled (cobalt blue) Greek key pattern. The shield is framed by a foliate engraved surround. The border exhibits a polished fluted frame.  The back of the locket features exquisite deep engraving of 'forget me knot flowers' and foliage, and a smaller shield. The inside of the locket is lined with deep purple silk fabric liners, both frames, and both plastic protectors. The locket has a small lip for opening, it is suggested that you use your fingernail to open the locket (no tools) to avoid scratching the locket.  The locket snaps closed and is secure. Lockets should never be closed by pushing the centre of the piece, always on the border of the by applying pressure on the edge of the locket.  There is a study bale , which securely suspends the locket. The locket has been matched up to 14K rose gold filled chain, which looks perfect with the pendant. This precious Victorian era locket is a very special piece to be cherished and enjoyed for many years to come. 

Note: In history of the United Kingdom, the Victorian era was the period of Queen Victoria's reign from June the 20th 1837 until her death on the 22nd of January 1901.  

Comments: A legend about the origin of the name forget me knot is as follows.  Once a medieval knight and his lady-love were walking beside a river . The knight held a bouquet in his hands. Because of the weight off the amor, he fell into the river. According to legend , he threw the bouquet at her shouting " Forget -Me -Not' . The shield represents protection for the photos of your loved ones in the locket.
