Tré - Ancient Viking 8th-11th Century Bronze Magical Spruce Tree Amulet Pendant. This wonderful artifact is crafted from bronze. Featuring an ancient Viking design and quality bronze work. This stunning amulet is circular in shape with what appears to be a beautiful spruce tree inside the frame. The tree has nice detail and cut out work. The amulet is substantial in size and the bale is sturdy. The patina on this piece is a glorious aged bronze green colour, displaying a lovely sheen. The pendant has been matched up to a black leatherette adjustable cord. This artifact would make a perfect gift or addition to any early collection.
Note: Tré means tree in Old Norse language. Although the spruce tree has been most associated with the celebration of Christmas this special winter tradition really began with the Pagan celebration of the Winter Solstice. The ancient Pagans believed in the power and magic of our natural world. During the darkest months they carried entire spruce trees ( or large branches of soft spruce) into their homes to celebrate the light and life when the winter months were over.
