Vermillion Sky & Sea  - Art Deco 14K Yellow And Rose Gold Hot Pink Sapphire & Natural Seed Pearl Flower Ring. This rare ring is crafted from 14K yellow and rose gold, hallmarked 14K, and a patent number 7-15-19. The ring features one cushion cut  faceted synthetic hot pink sapphire, 20 natural seed pearls, Art Deco era styling, and high quality craftsmanship. This luscious ring is expertly set with a beautiful vibrant hot pink sapphire, framed by a lustrous pearl surround. The pearls are handed-wired on gold (a characteristic often seen in ancient jewelry dating back to thousands of years ago). The pearls display a beautiful white/silvery colour. The gallery is also comprised of a sea of filigree, and a flower motif. The ring also exhibits exquisite carved shoulders, whilst the shank is smooth and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing. This stunning ring would make an amazing addition to any antique jewelry collection.

Comments: Beautiful rare example, set with a vibrant hot pink sapphire. Many of these formulas for antique synthetic stones can not be duplicated due to formulas being lost, patented, or too costly. Wonderful condition. This particular example has a patent number.

History: The history of synthesizing gem materials dates back to the early 19th century when scientists and jewellers began experimenting with various chemical and physical processes. One of the earliest successful attempts was the synthesis of ruby, which was achieved by French chemist Auguste Verneuil.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.

Rose gold was first used in early 19th century Russia by the famed jeweler Carl Faberge in his famous Faberge Eggs, as was known as Russian Gold. Rose gold later gained popularity in the United States during the lavish and feminine 1920's, and was worn in engagement rings and fine jewelry.Sep 6, 2024

Early Use. Relics of ancient filigree design have been found in Mesopotamia, dating the technique as far back as 3,000 BC. The meticulous craft of soldering twisted metals became a common popular art for Mesopotamian craftsmen.

Art Deco was an international decorative style than ran from 1919 to 1939. Known initially as "le style moderne" or "Jazz Moderne," the style received its current name in 1968, during a period of scholarly reappraisal.
