Sentiment - Victorian 9K Gold Engraved Locket & Chain. This gorgeous locket is crafted from 9K yellow gold, hallmarked 9CT (British Hallmark). The chain is also crafted from 9K gold, hallmarked 375 (British hallmark for 9K). Featuring exquisite engraving, chased detail, Victorian styling and quality workmanship. The locket is oval shaped displaying beautiful hand engraving. The face of locket exhibits wonderful scrolls and a blank shield for engraving initials or a monogram if desired. The chased border displays lovely deep carved foliage and scrolls. The back of the locket is beautifully engraved with Ivy decoration. There is a scroll on top of the locket, adding beauty and a finished look to the piece. The locket is a back to front locket which is crafted out of 9K gold, and metal, adding durability and strength to the piece (a characteristic of Victorian lockets) It opens nicely and has a gentle closure. When closing a locket, it is always wise to close them on the border edge and not the central part of the locket. Gold is soft and the borders of these lockets are strengthened by metal frames for opening and closing the locket. There is a vintage photo of a gentleman inside one of its chambers, which can be removed or left inside. The inside of the locket is complete with both of its original plastic protectors and frames. The chain looks to be original, it is 9K solid gold (hallmarked 375) with a spring ring clasp in perfect working order. The colour of the locket is a wonderful mellow buttery yellow, with a perfect patina. This special Victorian treasure is charming, elegant and quite simply breathtaking, truly a perfect gift or addition to any fine jewelry collection.
