Etruscan Elegance - Victorian 9K Gold Creole Hoop Earrings .  This gorgeous earrings are crafted from 9K yellow gold, hallmarked 375 (British hallmark for 9K) Featuring Victorian era earrings in the Etruscan Revival style, and quality gold-work. The design of these earrings are hoops, know as creole earrings. They have wonderful detail and decoration surrounding the hoop (this design is a characteristic of ancient Etruscan jewelry). However they also have a Victorian characteristic, which is the wonderful facets on the main portion of the earrings. They also have the lovely feature of being decorated on both sides of the earrings, giving the earrings dimension and beauty. The earrings have a hinged lock system and are for pierced ears.   These wonderful Victorian era earrings would make a perfect gift or addition to any fine collection. 

Victorian Note: Creole Earrings are hoop earrings that are broader at the bottom than the top. So these are round or oval shaped earrings that most commonly are hinged earrings.

Hoop earrings originated in Africa, dating back to Nubia, a civilization that existed in the 4th century in what is now present day Sudan, according to Yekaterina Barbash, associate curator of Egyptian art at the Brooklyn Museum.  In ancient Egypt, both men and women wore hoop earrings. 

In history of the United Kingdom, the Victorian era was the period of Queen Victoria's reign, from June 20th 1837 until her death on the 22nd of January ,1901.
