Victorian Dream - Victorian 14K Rose Gold Sapphire & Seed Pearl Ring. This gorgeous ring is crafted from 14K rose gold, tested. Featuring oval cut sapphire doublet, 6 genuine seed pearls, Victorian styling, and quality gold work. The expertly claw set sapphire doublet has the most beautiful blue colour, with a lovely violet hue. The sapphire is flanked by 3 claw set white seed pearls, with silvery grey overtones. The pearls have a lovely lustre, with a silky finish. The tapered shoulders of the precious ring have beautiful engravings and detail. The shank of the ring is substantial, smooth and polished. There is a makers mark M.C. on the inside circumference of the ring. This Victorian era ring is charming and elegant, truly a very special gift or addition to any fine jewelry collection.

Note: A doublet is a type of assembled gem composed in two sections. A sapphire and glass doublet uses a top portion of a natural sapphire fused to any colour of glass to imitate the gem.

Sapphire and glass doublets wearer first introduced around 1850 when it was noted that molten glass would adhere to a gemstone. It was a popular imitation for all types of gems in many colours because the colour of the glass was all that could be seen. They were still produced into the early 1900s until actual synthetic gems were introduced.
