English Ivy - Victorian 10K Rose Gold Amethyst & Natural Seed Pearl Ring.  This lovely ring is crafted from 10K rose gold, tested and confirmed.  Featuring 3 round cut faceted paste (form of early glass) amethysts,  12 natural seed pearls, Victorian styling and quality gold-work.  The expertly claw set amethyst paste gems, have the most beautiful deep purple colour, displaying a pinkish/red hue. The amethysts are flanked by 6 precious luminous pearls on each side of the ring. The pearls are white , with a silvery grey overtone.  The design of this ring is so pretty, swirls of pearls and three beautiful amethyst gems set on an angle gives the gallery uniqueness and such a sense of style. The band is smooth and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit.  The Victorians used natural gems, synthetic gems, and paste (glass), sometimes all three types could be used in one item since they did not always have access to certain gems. This is a fine example of two types in one ring.  This charming ring would make a perfect gift or addition to any fine jewelry collection. 

Note:  In the aristocratic classes of the 17th century Europe, particularly the tastes-making rococo Parisians, fine jewelry made of paste gemstones like diamonds and emeralds were flaunted and  coveted. These stones were treasured for their beauty as much as their relative rarity- it was rarity that prompted jewellers to seek out an equally beautiful , but less expensive alternative material for their creations. 

In 1724, French jewel designer Georges Frederic Strass came up with" paste" a kind of leaded glass that he cut and polished with metal powder until it appeared like a diamond in the light. These white "diamante" or " strass" were a hit with glamorous Parisian high society.  These lovely ring is a fine example of beautiful paste gems. 

Comments: Pearls should not be immersed in liquid, to clean , gently wipe with a soft damp cloth and pat dry with a soft dry cloth.  Never use chemicals, just water on the cloth.
