Victorian sterling silver "Jubilee" bracelet. This magnificent bracelet is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked sterling with English assays, assayed with a British hallmark for 925 sterling , Chester assay, and the letter C for 1886. This beautiful piece was made to commemorate the 1887 Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Featuring an overlaid crown, a silver ribbon marked JUBILEE, flanked by Queen Victoria's Imperial cypher, her initials VR for Victoria Regina. The bracelet is a bangle style , with a slide type closure that locks into place. The front is beautifully decorated, the back is polished. I have seen numerous pins and pendants, however never a bracelet. This is not only beautiful but an important piece of history to be treasured and enjoyed for many years to come.
Note: The Victorian era spanned Queen Victoria's rule of England from 1837 until 1901. During that time, a middle class began to emerge, sparking a demand for jewelry in the mass market. The era is usually divided into several subsections: the Romantic Period from 1837 to 1861, the Grand Period from 1861 to 1880, and the Aesthetic Period from 1880 to 1901.
