Victoria's Reign - Victorian English 9K Gold Natural Amethyst & Seed Pearl Pendant & 14K Gold Fill Chain. This wonderful pendant is crafted from 9K yellow gold, tested, and confirmed. Featuring five natural round cut faceted amethyst, 32 natural English freshwater seed pearls, Victorian era stying, and high quality craftsmanship. This exquisite pendant is expertly bezel and claw-set with beautiful vibrant purple amethyst gemstones, displaying a lavender/pinkish hue. The precious amethyst gemstones are surrounded by a sea of silvery white pearls, set in a beautifully sculpted gold gallery. The pendant can also be worn as a brooch if you wish, however the pin has been locked in place at one point in time. However the cylinder lock can easily be opened up by a jeweller so it can be worn as a brooch if desired. The pendant is beautifully made, and showcases fabulous detail and decoration (a characteristic of antique jewelry). The bale on the pendant is hidden in the back of the piece, and looks to be original. The pendant has been matched up to a vintage style 14K gold filled chain, featuring a secure spring-ring clasp in perfect working order. The wonderful Victorian era pendant looks stunning when worn, truly a treasure to be cherished and enjoyed for many years to come.

History: Victorian era, in British history, the period between approximately 1820 and 1914, corresponding roughly but not exactly to the period of Queen Victoria's reign (1837–1901) 

Amethyst jewelry has been found and dated as early as 2000 BC. Some historical accounts say that Saint Valentine had an amethyst ring carved with an image of Cupid. For those familiar with Old Testament history, amethyst was one of the twelve gemstones that represented the twelve tribes of Israel.

Pearls were presented as gifts to Chinese royalty as early as 2300 BC, while in ancient Rome, pearl jewellery was considered the ultimate status symbol. So precious were the spherical gems that in the 1st century BC, Julius Caesar passed a law limiting the wearing of pearls only to the ruling classes.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade
