Enchantment - Vintage 14K Gold Natural Opal Filigree Pendant & 14K Gold Filled Chain. This sweet pendant is crafted from 14K gold, hallmarked 14K for 14K gold. The chain is hallmarked 1/20 14K for 14K gold fill.  The pendant features one natural cabochon opal, vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. This pretty gallery showcases delicate petals of filigree work, which showcases a beautiful white opal, displaying an array of colors in different light intensities. The bale is tapered and displays a fluted design, which is hallmarked on the back with the metal purity. The chain is a belcher antique style, which matches the pendant beautifully. This vintage pendant would make a perfect gift or addition to any jewelry collection.

History: Many cultures have credited opal with supernatural origins and powers. Arabic legends say it falls from the heavens in flashes of lightning. The ancient Greeks believed opals gave their owners the gift of prophecy and guarded them from disease. Europeans have long considered the gem a symbol of hope, purity, and truth.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.

Gold filled is a superior choice due to its higher quality and long-lasting value. With gold filled jewelry, you're making an investment that can withstand everyday wear, effectively lowering the cost per wear over time.
