Delightful - Vintage Gold Plate Amethyst Paste Enamel Floral Brooch. This brooch is crafted from gold plate over base metal. Featuring 6 amethyst paste faceted gems, enamel work, and Vintage styling. This unique brooch is made in the form of a flower. The flower is a purple colour, and claw set with amethyst paste gemstones. The leaves are enamelled in green and black, and trimmed in gold. The pin on the back locks in place with a secure lock system. This Vintage whimsical brooch looks wonderful when worn, truly an early Vintage piece to be enjoyed for many years to come.
In 1724, French jewel designer Georges Frédéric Strass came up with “paste,” a kind of leaded glass that he cut and polished with metal powder until it appeared to shimmer like a diamond in the light.
