History : Centuries ago, quartz pebbles with a high lead content were found sparkling on the banks of Europe's Rhine River. These beautiful, natural stones were highly coveted and were eventually depleted, inspiring jewelers to create an imitation, aptly named the "rhinestone."
The Aurora Borealis or A.B. prism is a type of crystal prism that has the refraction effect applied to the prism. The term "Aurora" refers to the Aurora Borealis (or Northern Lights), a natural phenomena that occurs in higher latitudes, toward the poles, creating a magnificent display of color in the night sky.
The originators of silver-plating were George Richards Elkington and Henry Elkingtonwho began their research in times of the Industrial Revolution. By the 1830's they had patented their processes and 1840 saw the technique of electro-plating brought to perfection.
