Vintage Sparklers - Vintage Rhodium Plated Aurora Borealis Crystal Dangly Clip -On Earrings. These wonderful earrings are crafted from rhodium plate over metal. They feature 8 aurora borealis faceted sphere crystals, vintage era styling, and quality craftsmanship. These earrings are comprised of a hand-set sparkling crystal (which is the front of the surmount), and loop to loop graduated sparkling crystals. The earrings are for pierced and non pierced ears, which fit comfortably on the earlobes. These pretty vintage earrings look stunning when worn, truly a perfect addition to any vintage jewelry collection.
Comments: They would make beautiful bridal or special occasion earrings. However they are still versatile enough for daily wear.
History: The term "Aurora Borealis" refers to the iridescent, rainbow-like coating applied to crystals and glass beads to create a dazzling, shimmering effect, inspired by the natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights. This coating, developed by Swarovski in the 1950's is now a hallmark of sparkling jewelry and crystal pieces.
Rhodium plating, a process of applying a thin layer of rhodium to jewelry, gained popularity in the 1930s and 1950s, initially for decorative purposes and later as a luxurious finish for white gold, enhancing its brilliance and resilience.
