History: The Celtic Knot, which is sometimes referred to as the mystic or endless knot, is a symbol that represents the interconnection of all things and the continuous cycle of existence that is created from this connection.

Celtic knots are a cultural phenomenon that exists within wedding ceremonies, tapestries, jewelry, tattoos, etc. These knots originated in Northern Italy and the South part of Gaul and went to Ireland in the 7th century. ... Sailors would tie two knots together in remembrance of the love they left while at sea.

In medieval and renaissance times, the lover's knot was used as a love token. In much of the literature and folklore on sailors and life at sea, the lover's knot makes a regular appearance. It was apparently commonly used by sailors as a wedding ring tied with gold wire.

Silver's history is long. The first evidence of silver mining dates back to 3000 B.C., in Turkey and Greece, according to the RSC. Ancient people even figured out how to refine silver. They heated the silver ore and blew air over it, a process called cupellation.
