Violet Trio - Vintage Victorian Revival Sterling Silver Amethyst Ornate Ring. This ornate ring is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked 925 for sterling. Featuring two natural pear shaped faceted amethysts, one natural round cut faceted amethyst, vintage styling and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this ring is expertly bezel set with three purple amethysts, displaying a violet hue. Surrounding the gemstones are ornate twisted rope and silver bead decoration. The shank is smooth and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit, and easy sizing. This Vintage ring is made in the Victorian style, and looks wonderful when worn.
History: Exactly how long this gem has existed is unclear, but it was first discovered in France, about 25,000 years ago. That means it was first used by prehistoric people! Today, it can be found in many places all over the world.

The sterling alloy originated in continental Europe and was being used for commerce as early as the 12th century in the area that is now northern Germany. A piece of sterling silver dating from Henry II's reign was used as a standard in the Trial of the Pyx until it was deposited at the Royal Mint in 1843.
