You Spin Me Round - Edwardian English Dated 1904 9K Gold Carnelian & Black Onyx Fob Pendant & 10K Gold Chain. This exquisite fob pendant is crafted from 9K yellow gold, hallmarked 375 for 9K, Chester mark and a date letter mark for 1904.  The chain is 10K yellow gold, hallmarked 10K. The pendant is expertly bezel set with a beautiful onyx on the one side and a gorgeous carnelian gemstone on the other side. The fob swivels and has a lovely open-work detail on the top of the fob. These fobs use to be worn on pocket watch chains in the past, however now they are often worn as a pendant. This particular fob can be worn either with the onyx on the outside or the carnelian on the outside, which allows for versatility.  An antique two in one pendant, what more can we ask for! Just stunning. 

Note: The Fob features its original 'O' ring, which exhibits full hallmarks. Lovely versatile wearable piece in fantastic condition. 

Agate derives its name from a river in Sicily, which the Greeks called Achates. Vast quantities of agate were discovered in this river as early as 300 B.C. During the reign of Julius Caesar, while engaged in the Gallic Wars, deposits of agate were discovered along the Nahe River in Germany.

Black agate/Black Onyx is a beautiful natural stone that has long been considered to have healing properties. It's a shimmering black crystal that shines as though it's had a century of polishing. Agate stone has been used by humans since the Bronze Age. 

Carnelian belongs to the mineral family quartz. Its history dates back 4,500 years, at which time Ancient Sumerians and Ancient Egyptians fashioned it into body ornaments. The Ancient Greeks and Romans also favored the semi-precious gemstone for intaglios which they used in signet rings.

It symbolises bold energy, warmth, and a joy that lingers as much as it empowers and stimulates. It's known for being a stone of courage, endurance, energy, leadership, and motivation. Carnelians have inspired and protected us throughout history thanks to their bright, rich colouring.  

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.

The Edwardian era corresponds to the reign of King Edward VII in Great Britain, whose short-lived governance (1901-1910) followed Victoria's long reign and preceded the modern House of Windsor in England. The "Edwardian" style broadly encompasses the years of 1901 through to 1919.
