History: History. In 1901, Emanuel Cohn and Carl Rosenberger established the accessories boutique Cohn and Rosenberger in New York City, which was later shortened to Coro. In 1929, Coro purchased a manufacturing facility in Providence, Rhode Island, which would later become the world's largest costume jewelry facility.

Screw backs were more prevalent from the early 1900s through the early 1950s, and then clip earrings (first used in the early 1930s) had a mid-century surge in popularity.

Originally, rhinestones were rock crystals gathered from the river Rhine, hence the name, although some were also found in areas like the Alps (the source of the Rhine). Today the name "rhinestone" applies only to varieties of lead glass known as crystal glass.

The history of brass dates back to ancient civilizations, with artifacts found in various regions, including the Middle East and Europe. It is believed that brass was first created around 5000 BCE when metallurgists accidentally mixed copper and zinc ores during the smelting process.
