History: Attwood & Sawyer was founded in 1956 in Porthcawl, Wales by Mr Horace Attwood and Mr Sawyer. Many of the designs now treasured by collectors of vintage jewellery were inspired by historical references, including their most recognisable collection inspired by the jewellery collection of the Duchess of Windsor.  Their high quality approach to bold costume jewellery is now very sought after.   The brand had a very strong presence across the UK and Europe, and went on to produce the jewellery for the television series "Dallas."

In 1862, Daniel Swarovski was born in Bohemia to a family that owned a crystal-cutting company. Now part of the Czech Republic, the Bohemia region has a rich history of crystal crafsmanship. In 1883, Daniel formed a jewelry company and by 1886, they had over 70 employees, and supplied jewelry for Queen Victoria.

Enamel jewelry, with its origins in ancient civilizations like Egypt and Greece boasts a rich history, evolving through the Byzantine Empire, Renaissance, and into modern times, with techniques like cloisonné and champlevé shaping its artistic expression.

The technology behind gold plated jewelry is credited to Italian chemist Luigi Brugnatelli. In 1805, he discovered the process for electroplating. It was quickly adopted for jewelry styles, with many Victorian jewelry pieces using gold plating.
