This lovely locket is crafted from 10K yellow and white gold, hallmarked 10K Canadian Certified Gold, and Italy: Meaning that the locket and chain are made from Canadian gold, in Italy. Featuring one natural round cut diamond, engravings, Victorian revival styling, and quality craftsmanship. The top casing on this locket has a beautiful star-set sparkling diamond in a white gold diamond shaped cartouche, which is surrounded by a yellow gold diamond shaped frame. The outer portion of the locket is beautifully engraved with a scroll-type pattern and delicate hammered decoration. The back of the locket has a high smooth and polished finish. The inside of the locket is complete with its black fabric liners and plastic protectors. The bale is fluted and has a slight taper, which works perfectly with the design of the locket. The chain is a fine, yet a solid curb chain design, which features a secure spring ring in perfect working order. History: The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.

The origin of white gold can be traced back to the early 19th century, when jewelers were looking for a more affordable alternative to platinum. Since then, various alloys have been developed, resulting in the creation of white gold as we know it today.

The tradition of wearing a locket has spanned thousands of years and can be traced back as far back as the 16th Century, during which time they were worn by both men and women. Lockets containing a portrait of the of-the-time monarch were frequently worn by those with particularly patriotic tendencies.
