Georgian ivory box. This amazing Georgian treasure is hand carved from genuine ivory. The side of the box features its original mirror and silk coral velvet. The carving on this box is very fine, featuring a beautifully hand-carved putti holding a bow and carrying a bag of arrows , while walking a dog. To the left there is a full garden with a tree and stairs leading to the garden building. The garden building has pillars, simulating Roman architecture. The detail on this magnificently carved box is so fine, notice the pillars, the stairs leading to the building , the texture to the grasses and foliage. The carved detail on the putti and the dog are exquisite and delicate. The putti has a lovely face, the dog has much detail, even the dogs leash shows every twist in the rope. To the right of the box there is a bridge , more foliage and a magnificent tree. The inside of the box is lined with a soft silk coral velvet and a mirror, there is a crack in the mirror, however the mirror appears to be original. There is a catch, however the box does not lock , it closes gently together and lines up properly, the back of the box has a hinge and pins , it opens and closes perfectly. The box is rare , and beautifully carved, very charming and most likely had an ivory toothpick in the box originally, this is a investment piece and a very special Object d'art.
