Retro Blossom - Vintage 12K Gold Filled Paste Flower Brooch. This wonderful brooch is crafted from 12K gold fill, hallmarked 1/20 12K GP. This brooch feature five faceted oval shaped faceted blue paste gems, sixteen marquise paste gems, 5 round cut paste gemstones, vintage Retro styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this brooch is made in a floral motif, which is set with sky blue and clear paste gemstones. The brooch is framed by a circular gold frame, which is a characteristic of Retro jewelry. The pin on the back of the brooch locks in place with a secure rotary type mechanism. The vintage brooch looks gorgeous when worn, truly a great addition to any vintage jewelry collection.
History:Paste jewellery dates back to France during the 18th century when a jeweller named Georges Frederic Stras began hand crafting fine-quality Paste jewellery in 1724. He was quickly then appointed as “Jeweller to the King”, and began making Paste jewellery for King Louis XV of France.
The history of gold-filled jewellery traces back to early 19th century England, where this technique was patented to create semi-precious and better-quality custom jewellery during the Victorian Era.
