It's A Shoo-In - Estate Silver Plate Crystal Rhinestone Shoe Brooch. This charming brooch is crafted from silver plate over metal. The brooch features numerous round cut crystal rhinestones, and vintage styling. This brooch is made in the form of a shoe, which is adorned by clear, and black crystals. The brooch showcases details such as crystal accents, and an antique finish. The pin in the back securely locks in place with a rotary mechanism, which is in perfect working order. This pretty estate brooch would make a perfect addition to any costume jewelry collection.

History: Joseph Strasser could be credited with the precursor to our present-day Rhinestone, but it was really when Georg Freidrich Strass in 1760 invented the first ever rhinestone (artificial gemstone) from a special type of crystal found in the Rhine River that the stones we know today were born.

Silver plating was invented in the U.K. around 1740 in a place called Sheffield. This explains the name, which is Sheffield Plate. Another name for this process is Fusion plate. This process remained quite simple compared to the newer constructed silver plated items.
